About Village Family
The Underdog Innovators
Village Family may not be the biggest 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Hampton Roads—but we are one of the boldest.
Founded in 2014, Village Family began with no building, no major funding, and no corporate backing. What we did have was passion, persistence, and a clear mission:
to make sure no family in our community goes hungry or feels forgotten.
From our grassroots beginnings, we’ve grown into a trusted community hub where families find food, clothing, education, and support—all in one place.
What We Believe
We believe help should be human, accessible, and dignified.
Our vision is simple and powerful:
to improve the quality of life for every individual and family who turns to us for help.
What We Do
We go beyond hunger relief by working alongside schools, colleges, health providers, and local organizations to deliver programs that promote:
-
Education & Literacy
-
Health & Nutrition
-
Youth & Senior Support
-
Low-Income Assistance
-
Self-Sufficiency & Economic Development
Our approach is holistic—because hunger is never just about food.
How We Innovate
As underdogs, innovation isn’t optional—it’s essential.
Where others see limits, we see possibilities.
We’ve built partnerships with local colleges, healthcare providers, car clubs, and community groups to create programs that deliver more than meals, including:
-
Hygiene & wellness care
-
Youth empowerment initiatives
-
Senior support services
-
Financial and life-skills education
Social Impact Through Creativity
In 2019, we launched Event Parteez, our social enterprise designed to:
-
Celebrate local talent
-
Create safe, inclusive spaces for youth
-
Generate sustainable funding for our mission
It’s proof that when resources are limited, creativity becomes our greatest strength.
Why We Matter
Our community calls on us because we don’t wait for solutions—we build them.
Village Family stands on the shoulders of those who came before us, continuing their work with courage, collaboration, and creativity. We are living proof that small organizations can create big change.
We are the underdog innovators—and we’re just getting started.
